This case study highlights the journey of a client who experienced gender dysphoria about their facial hair. After trying three different providers totalling 40 hours of electrolysis without any progress, they turned to our clinic for a permanent solution. Our expert team conducted a thorough assessment and tailored an intensive electrolysis treatment plan that addressed their specific needs, ensuring optimal results. Starting in January 2022, we meticulously targeted each hair follicle over a number of marathon sessions lasting from 3 to 6 hours per day. We cleared the cheeks and neck initially and progressively reduced the upper lip and chin areas on each visit, allowing them to proceed with their social transition.
This client’s priority was timely completion so their treatment plan required frequent sessions to achieve first clearance and then monthly sessions to clear any new growth. Photo 3 shows the hair growth after 2 clearances. It does not look any better at this point, however, the client had already noticed that the hair growth has slowed down and it took a long time to grow through. We tweaked the modality just in case. Then after the third clearance 9 months into the treatment plan, the growth fell off a cliff. Photos 4,5 and 6 show the progress through months 9 to 18.
Photos 7,8 and 9 show how little hair grew between months 18 and 30. This required minimal touch-ups.
The Total Treatment Time for this client’s facial hair removal by electrolysis was around 150 hours, 90% of which was completed over 18 months.
Our customised electrolysis approach not only provided a permanent solution but also improved the client’s overall quality of life. The treatment was conducted in a safe, sterile environment, with noticeable improvements after each session.
